Therapy Intensives
EMDR, IFS, + KAP Intensives in NYC
The therapeutic process, like the creative process, thrives when we can slow down, focus, and let go of anxieties about time.
Our intensives are mini-retreats in Brooklyn and Manhattan for adults who want deeper, accelerated healing.
Why therapy intensives?
You might feel like…
You've been doing the work in weekly sessions, but you can still feel yourself compartmentalizing, masking, or staying surface level
You need to ease in and out of therapy sessions slowly, which leaves limited time for active processing
Your life is fast and your schedule is variable — work, creative projects, and travel mean weekly sessions keep getting deprioritized
You’re starting to question if the problem is you (it’s not!)
Weekly therapy sessions have real limitations. Your nervous system struggles to settle into deep healing when you’re squeezing in therapy between work, errands, and social plans.
Is a therapy intensive right for you?
This is for you if…
You’re currently in therapy and want to supplement your ongoing work with a structured intervention
You want extended time to address a deeper underlying issue that keeps surfacing in various ways
You're moving through a big transition, event, or creative block and need dedicated space to navigate it
You want a therapy reset or jumpstart that provides focused progress in a short span of time
You struggle to fully open up in weekly sessions
This might not be the right fit if…
You’ve never been in therapy or it’s been a very long time
You’re in an active crisis or managing multiple immediate issues that require ongoing stabilization first
You’re looking for a one-time quick fix and don’t have the capacity for ongoing integration work
What’s included
-
We'll assess where you've been, where you are, and where you want to go. Comprehensive assessment and evaluation, history taking, values clarification, goal setting, and a review of treatment options to fit your needs.
60 mins
-
We'll prepare you and your nervous system for intensive work. Psychoeducation on nervous system regulation, assessment of your body's specific trauma responses, skill development for resourcing, grounding, and self-soothing. The number of prep sessions depends on your clinical needs.
60 min each
-
After your intake and prep sessions, we'll make a recommendation for the length of each block of intensive work. You'll be guided through every step, which may include mindfulness and somatic practice, psychoeducation, experiential therapy (EMDR, IFS, KAP), emotional processing, coping skills development, and planning for integration over the next few weeks.
3-8 hours depending on your needs
-
We'll meet after the completion of your intensive to reflect on your insights, identify concrete ways to integrate these into your life, and connect you with any additional supports or resources needed.

Who you’ll work with
KAP + IFS Intensives with Alana
Alana offers KAP intensives, IFS intensives, or an integrated experience that weaves both together. Combining ketamine's ability to open up deeper access with IFS's parts-based framework can be a particularly powerful pairing — the medicine creates the window, and the therapy helps you make meaning of what you find there.
EMDR + IFS Intensives with Grace
Grace offers EMDR intensives, IFS intensives, or an integrated approach that draws from both. If you carry trauma that lives in your body as much as your mind, blending EMDR's somatic focus with IFS's compassionate parts work can create lasting change. Grace also loves incorporating music, art, writing, and movement to deepen the sensory elements of healing.
Frequently asked questions
-
Weekly therapy gives you consistent support over time. An intensive gives you the space to go deep on something specific without fragmenting it across weeks or months. Think of it less as a replacement and more as a way to do the work that weekly sessions keep running out of time for.
-
If you've been in therapy and feel like you keep circling the same thing without breaking through, or if something is coming up in your life that needs more space than your weekly session allows, an intensive might be the right format. We'll help you figure that out in your discovery call.
-
Intensives are priced at the therapist’s hourly rate, which ranges from $285-330. We can provide superbills for out of network reimbursement, but cannot guarantee your insurance company will accept the claim.
-
Not always. We can provide receipts for out-of-network reimbursement, but coverage varies by plan. We'd recommend checking with your insurance provider ahead of time.
-
No. Intensives can be a starting point or a standalone experience. Some clients come to us specifically for intensive work while continuing weekly therapy with another provider. Others use it as an entry point before deciding if ongoing therapy is right for them.
-
We build in pacing, grounding, and closure so you leave in a stable place. That said, deep work can stir things up — that's part of the process. Your integration session is there to help you land, and we'll make sure you have resources and a plan for the days that follow.
-
Each modality works differently. EMDR focuses on reprocessing memories that are still activating your nervous system. IFS helps you build a relationship with the parts of you that have been carrying pain or running protective patterns. KAP uses ketamine to create a window of openness that allows therapeutic work to go deeper. We also offer integrated intensives that combine modalities. Your therapist will recommend an approach based on what you're working on and what fits.
-
Ketamine is a legal, FDA-approved medication that has been used safely in medical settings for decades. In KAP, it's prescribed by a licensed medical provider and administered under supervision. There are medical and psychiatric contraindications we screen for during your intake to make sure it's safe for you. We'll walk through all of this before anything happens.
-
The therapeutic work itself runs 3–8 hours in a single day, depending on what we recommend after your intake. The full process, including intake, prep, the intensive itself, and the integration session unfolds over a few weeks.
