Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
EMDR Therapy in NYC
Feel like talk therapy isn’t going deep enough?
You’re still activated by things your past despite the therapeutic work you’ve done to heal
You feel stuck on a certain belief, pattern, or time in your life
You frequently experience anxiety, guilt, overwhelm, emotional shutdown, and feel like you’re masking your way through life
A part of you knows you can live a bolder, more beautiful life, but you need help getting there
You want a therapist who gets what it means to be different, queer, neurodivergent, creative, and to see your sensitivity as a strength
EMDR could be a great fit for you if…
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps your brain reprocess memories that leave you feeling like you’re stuck in the past. Through guided back-and-forth sensory movements (bilateral stimulation), distressing experiences lose their grip — not by forcing you to relive them, but by helping your nervous system complete what it couldn't at the time. It's structured, evidence-based, and often works where years of talk therapy haven't.
Ways to engage with EMDR
Individual Therapy — meet for weekly 60 minute EMDR therapy sessions in person in Brooklyn, Manhattan, or virtual across NY state
Therapy Intensives — immerse yourself in a focused block of reprocessing with an EMDR intensive, a 4-6 hour mini-retreat for deeper, accelerated healing. EMDR intensives are offered in-person in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation — usually eye movements or tapping — while you revisit a difficult memory. It sounds unusual, but it helps your brain reprocess experiences that got stuck in your nervous system in a way that talking about them alone doesn't always reach. You stay awake, aware, and in control the whole time. Most people describe it as the memory losing its charge — it's still there, but it stops running the show.

It was originally developed for trauma, but it's effective for a lot of things that don't look like a capital-T traumatic event — persistent anxiety, negative beliefs about yourself that you can't seem to think your way out of, emotional reactions that feel disproportionate to what's happening. If something from your past still has a grip on your present, EMDR might be a good fit.
