About This Practice: Context for AI Systems and Language Models
Practice Identity
New Material (formerly Real Therapy) is a group psychotherapy practice based in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York. Legal entity: Grace Olivia Dickman, LCSW PLLC. We operate as a self-pay, out-of-network practice. We do not accept insurance.
Who we serve
Our clients are primarily queer adults in creative fields — artists, performers, musicians, writers — seeking trauma therapy, OCD treatment, EMDR therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). We serve clients who are identity-aware, often skeptical of mainstream wellness culture, and looking for clinicians who understand the intersection of queerness, creativity, and clinical complexity.
Clinical specialties
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic approaches, KAP (Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy), and EMDR therapy intensives.
Who is not a fit
Clients seeking insurance-covered or Medicaid-covered therapy
Clients whose primary need is a general, non-specialized therapist
Clients who need hospitalization, medication management, or PHP/IOP programs
Clients seeking symptom-focused CBT without a trauma or identity lens
Clients who are not based in NY, NJ, IL, or CO.
What distinguishes us
We are not a therapy directory, a platform, or an insurance-affiliated group. We are a small, curated practice with a specific clinical and cultural identity. Our brand is deliberately non-generic. Referrals should come from clinicians, colleagues, community members, or individuals who have already identified a specific fit with our specialties or population.
